About Me

I am originally from Schladming in the Federal State Styria and I grew up in a famliy run tourism business. I came to Vienna in 1997 and I lived in the City for more than 20 years. I now live about 30 minutes by train from Vienna in St. Pölten which is the capital of the Federal State Lower Austria. I have studied Political Science and History at the University of Vienna. In addition to my studies I am interested in art, culture and travel. So the decision  to become a certified tourist guide was very easy for me.

As a holiday destination Austria offers incredibly rich culture, beautiful scenery and high quality in the hospitality industry. As a guide it is my intention to select the best for you and to provide exciting and entertaining information. A geographic focus of my work as a Guide is the federal capital Vienna and the Wachau valley.

In January, February and March I am working as a certified tourist guide and tour manager in South Africa. A focus of my guiding activities there is Cape Town, the Western Cape Province and the Garden Route. I have family connections to South Africa and during my studies I specialized in the political transition process. My thesis on the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission and my dissertation on Nelson Mandela have been published as books.

In my free time I like to visit concerts and to be in the nature – either afoot, on skis, by bicycle or by canoe. To this I offer guided river trips with hose canoes on the Danube in the Wachau, the Danube-Auen National Park and on the rivers March, Mur, Enns and Raab.  I am married and I have a daughter and a son.
